Left atrial appendage thrombus with emboli to the SMA and left renal artery | Radiology Case

Thrombus left atrial appendage with complete SMA occlusion and partial occlusion left renal artery. Prior aortic valve replacement and repair aortic aneurysm.

DISCUSSION: The most likely etiology for the SMA occlusion and partial left renal artery occlusion is embolization from the left atrial appendage thrombus. The left atrial appendage and the left ventricular apex are common sites of cardiac thrombus.
